How to Take off Acrylic Nails / Fake Nails with Nail Polish Remover

  1. Remove Nail Polish and Designs
Remove all designs and nail polish off from your nails with acetone nail polish remover. You can use the cotton ball or anything to soak the acetone and rub on nails until acrylic nails are cleaned.
  2. Clip Acrylic Nails
Use the nail clipper to cut off as much as you can of your acrylic nails.
  3. Vaseline or Petroleum Jelly
Apply the Vaseline or petroleum jelly to your skin around your finger that will be dipped in acetone nail polish remover. This step is especially crucial for individuals with sensitive skin. Do not apply the Vaseline or petroleum jelly to your acrylic nails because the acetone will not be able to penetrate the acrylic nail for easy removal.
  4. Glass Bowl
Fill the glass bowl with acetone nail polish remover to a level where your entire acrylic fingernails can be dipped into the acetone.
  5. Soak
Put your acrylic nails in the acetone nail polish remover in the bowl and soak for about 10 to 15 minutes. I would suggest doing one hand at a time.
  6. Cuticle Pusher/Orange Stick
Feel your acrylics to see if they are getting soft. If they are soft, then use the cuticle pusher/orange stick to gently scrape the acrylic nail from the bottom to the top of the nails. You can soak your nails for a few more minutes if they are not soft enough to remove.
  7. Repeat steps 1-6 with your other hand.
  8. Hand Soap
Wash your hand thoroughly with the hand soap and pat them dry with the hand towel or paper towel.
  9. Nail Buffer
Use a nail buffer to buff off any remaining acrylic from your natural nails.
